IKEA: GODZILLA BABY

In this music video for IKEA, we gave some iconic Beijing rock stars a gigantic baby to show how overwhelming it can feel to bring a new life into your home.

Newborn babies are bundles of joy, but the arrival of a child always brings new challenges to a family. After the baby moves in, suddenly the family home feels a lot smaller and a lot messier. Thanks to IKEA, our lovely parents soon find a way to live happily and effortlessly together with this little cute troublesome.

The film stars Beijing rockers New Pants and features an adapted version of one of their head-bobbing hit songs: Stop asking me the same question of what does Disco mean.
We worked closely with the band to rewrite the lyrics, but this time from a baby’s perspective. I’m personally a big fan of New Pants so this is really a dream-comes-true project to me.

We also made a fun paid WeChat Moment ad with the idea “The Godzilla Baby is too big to fit in the media spot”,
showing giant Godzilla Baby coming out of the frame and triggering people to click and
watch our film and see more information about the IKEA’s home furnishing plan.
The ad is selected as 2020 Top 10 WeChat Moment Ads, as voted by 381,000 consumers.
